Supervision
I have over twenty years’ experience working as a counsellor and psychotherapist and six years as a supervisor. My supervision training was with the London Gestalt Centre although my approach is integrative.
My supervision practice includes experienced and trainee therapists as well as practitioners from other professions, such as social work.
Whilst supervision is essential to safe practice with our clients, it also needs to be a safe space. In order to help establish this, it is helpful for me to know something about you, including those areas in which you feel confident as well as those that might potentially be difficult for you. This way we can work together to minimise shame, which is commonly felt in supervision and which can prevent supervisees making the best use of it.
Areas of experience and specialism I bring to supervision, are many years of working with issues around diversity and difference, oppression and equality, especially for people identifying as LGBTQI++. I worked for 10 years as a mental health advocate so have an understanding of psychiatry and the mental health system. I am also trained in both Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Somatic Experiencing approaches to working with trauma in a body focussed and mindful way.
If you think that we might be a good ‘fit’, then please contact me to either discuss further or arrange an initial session.
